Definition
The cell wall is a tough and rigid wall surrounding the cell on all sides. It is located outside of the cell membrane and is found for only some types of cells (specifically, plant cells, bacteria, fungi, and some archaea).
Note that all cells, whether or not they have a cell wall, have a cell membrane.
