Definition

The S phase is a phase in the eukaryotic cell cycle that occurs between the G1 phase and the G2 phase, part of the broader interphase stage. During this phase, the cell's DNA (inside the nucleus) replicates into two copies, for what will eventually become the two daughter cells.
