Definition

Cytosol (also called cytoplasmic matrix or intracellular fluid) is the gel liquid found in the inside the cells, on the inside of cell membranes. It is found inside most of the organelles, with the exception of the nucleus in eukaryotic cells. It is the main constituent of cytoplasm. The cytoplasm is the cytosol along with the organelles and cytoplasmic inclusions.
